Marketing Magazine has launched the 91st annual Marketing Awards – one of Canada’s most coveted industry honour. For the first time ever, in recognition of “an increasingly important and vibrant part of the Canadian communications industry, Marketing is introducing Design categories to the program.”
“Our goal with the Marketing Awards is to recognize and reward the amazing work and creativity that builds brands in this country,” said Publisher Lucy Collin. “In the past few years, as the industry underwent enormous changes we realized that our definitions of that work has been too narrow. Design was a discipline we have been thinking about adding for a few years and after discussing with RGD we both agreed the timing was perfect. Six design categories have been introduced to recognize and celebrate the amazing work being done by Canada’s design community.”
In consultation with RGD, the following Design categories have been developed:
- Logo/Corporate Identity
- Annual Reports (print and/or digital)
- Brochures/Print Collateral
- Environmental Graphics (from traditional building signage, to wayfinding systems, to immersive installations)
- Information Graphics (graphics intended to bring clarity and meaning to data through visualization)
Other categories include: film; radio; press; out-of-home; public service; collateral; self-promotion; pushing the boundaries; integrated; branded content; multicultural marketing; client of the year; and digital – introduced in 2012.
Look for the Association’s President Lionel Gadoury RGD and other RGD professionals to be on the Design jury, made up of some of the best design talent in Canada, to be announced soon.
The 2013 Marketing Awards entry deadline is Wednesday, March 13 at 5pm EST. For this year only, fees in the Design categories will be 50% less than for the other established categories. For competition details and to enter, click here.
Winners will be announced on May 30 during an elegant sit-down gala dinner at the Carlu in Toronto and have their work featured in the Marketing Awards Book. RGD will be on-hand to present awards in the Design category.
