
As presenter for the Design Awards, RGD President Lionel Gadoury emphasized the significance of the new categories:
"We are of course biased, but we truly believe that good design has become an even more important part of effective marketing communications and think it very good for the industry to have its leading trade magazine celebrating that work by adding it to the Marketing Awards."
160 entries were submitted across the new categories. Winners were selected by a jury of designers from across Canada, including Stuart Ash RGD Emeritus, Gottschalk + Ash; Vanessa Eckstein RGD, Blok Design; Lionel Gadoury RGD, Context Creative; Diti Katona RGD, Concrete Design; Will Novosedlik, Idea Couture; Barry Quinn RGD, Juniper Park Communications.
Judges applied very high standards to all entries submitted, awarding 5 bronze medals and 4 silver medals for a total of 9 winners:
