The RFP for the creation of a new visual identity will be distributed to a select number of design firms. Based on the responses, three selected firms/designers will be invited to produce concepts to be presented to the organization's Board of Directors.
"As someone who hires graphic designers on a regular basis, I was very interested in the information regarding spec work that was provided on your website." wrote CCA Communications Manager Donna Balkan.
Donna reached out to RGD during the budgeting stage for the initiative to receive input from RGD on the appropriate remuneration for the concept work so that the allocation of funds could be planned accordingly.
"The CCA reaching out to us shows how the business community respects and values RGD's experience and knowledge of the design industry," says Chair of the RGD Ethics Committee, Stussy Tschudin. "This is a testament to the Association's long-term efforts to work with business leaders and educate organizations on the issue of spec work."
After reviewing the details, RGD's Ethics Committee provided a suggested minimum for the design work requested with examples of what some other client organizations do. RGD also offered best practices for the intellectual property rights for the concepts submitted.
