Icograda seeks participation in World Communication Design Day


Icograda invites all to participate in World Communication Design Day 2014 on Sunday, April 27.


This year, Icograda invites participants from across the globe to examine the evolving role of designers in the 21st century by reflecting on the statement: "This is what a designer does." Participants can download the WCDD2014 Kit and submit their own "statement" to the WCDD Facebook page or on Twitter using the hashtag #WCDD2014.


Icograda is the world body for professional communication design and RGD is an active, highly regarded Professional Member, fitting the criteria of a "membership-based organization having national status, the majority of whose members are professional designers...whose objective is to influence and raise standards of design."


"Participating in World Communication Design Day helps to promote knowledge sharing and awareness of design as well as the innovative community that exists here in Canada," says RGD President Lionel Gadoury. "Never before have design, communications and creative innovation been in higher demand and yet the very nature of what it means to be a “professional” can be elusive," he goes on to explain.


"If you have an idea, an inspiration or a design that reflects what you do, April 27th is the day to share it with the world," encourages Lionel. "Let’s do our part in Canada to raise awareness and inspire others as to what it means to be an RGD!"


In 2011, through funding provided by Mission Design, RGD President Lionel Gadoury participated in Icograda's International Design Alliance Congress in Taipei - the primary event for dialogue between designers and non-design stakeholders in a summit format. The Congress brought together designers from around the world to engage with government leaders, INGO's, and representatives from the business, science and technology and education realms.


Icograda is a non-profit, non-partisan, member-based network of independent organizations and stakeholders working within the multidisciplinary scope of communication design and expanded media. Founded in 1963, Icograda actively promotes the value of design practice, thinking, education, research and policy, representing more than 200 organizations in 67 countries and regions globally.
