Sponsors award five DT Scholarships to help young designers attend the DesignThinkers Conference
Congratulations to the five applicants who were selected to receive $500 scholarships toward registration and travel for the 2014 DesignThinkers Conference

Earlier this month, RGD invited Student and Provisional Members to tell us why they wished to attend DesignThinkers. We received many wonderful entries from creatives hoping to be inspired, connect with the industry and apply knowledge gained at the conference to help further their professional practice.

The following five entries stood out above the rest and were selected to receive $500 toward attending DesignThinkers, as well as free registration provided by the Association:

Sponsored by John St:

Christopher Kohanik Student RGD, ACAD, Calgary, Alberta

"Being able to walk away with different perspectives on what it means to be a designer on all levels; in different areas of specializations, and in different levels of career will better prepare me for when I'm done school."

Sponsored by Fusion Design Group:

Jessica Chavez Student RGD, St. Clair College, Windsor

"Graphic design is an art form but mostly, when used correctly it sends a message. I want to hear from those who work in the industry so I can apply new perspectives to the way I use design as a means of communication."

Sponsored by SapientNitro:

Oana Romaniuc Provisional RGD from Toronto

Sponsored by Juniper Park:

Laura Scott Student RGD, Sault College, Sault Ste Marie

"Living in a small community limits the ability to be exposed to a lot of opportunities and diversity. I believe that attending DesignThinkers will help to reprogram my thinking and give me inspiration and knowledge as I enter into the world as a Graphic Designer."

Sponsored by Grip Limited:

Kinsey Smith Student RGD, Sault College, Sault Ste Marie

"As a young designer, I am eager to hear from professionals so that I can learn from their past experiences, take a peek at their current projects, and be informed about what they think will be important in the future."

An additional five Student RGD scholarship applicants were given free registrations to attend the Conference in recognition of their motivation and enthusiasm to attend the event.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship winners - see you at the conference!
