RGD announces new developments in ongoing Accessibility initiative
See it Their Way
24/02/15

Launched in 2014, RGD's accessibility initiative is an EnAbling Change Project with the Government of Ontario, focused on promoting the principles of web accessibility and providing creative professionals with the tools they need to understand and comply with accessible requirements related to all forms of communication.

"Although the Ontario government has announced that fewer accessibility inspections will take place in 2015, the need for business compliance remains critical. Designing for accessibility is about designing with a greater sense of awareness. It’s about doing what is right and good for all of us" says Lionel Gadoury RGD, Principal at Accessibility Initiative Design Partner, Context Creative.

"As certified design professionals, RGDs deliver value through our ability to engage diverse audiences and to deliver rich experiences on the web, in print and within the built environment. RGD’s work with the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario reflects how our profession continues to evolve. Being a catalyst for positive change, leading by example, learning new skills and applying methodologies that not only meet standards, but also surpass expectations with creativity and innovation is invaluable."

The initiative includes the launch of a video to promote accessibility, the relaunch of rgd-accessibledesign.com and a series of free webinars. The goal of these resources is to educate designers on best practices for fulfilling mandatory and recommended web accessibility standards and to demonstrate the value of accessible design to designers and clients.
