Both organizations are excited to collaborate on a national initiative to collect important data on Canada’s creative industry.
The 8th bi-annual study, which RGD initiated in 2001, asks Canadian graphic designers and professionals in related creative fields to complete a confidential online survey providing salary and billing information.
“We are so pleased to be working with the GDC on such an important initiative,” says Stüssy Tschudin RGD, President of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers. “Together we can pool our resources and reach the widest majority of designers and related professionals across Canada, resulting in more accurate and relevant survey results that benefit us all.”
The findings of the survey, which will be made freely available this fall through a variety of media including an interactive website, raise awareness of the country’s thriving creative industry and provide an economic profile of the field.
"Knowing what to charge or how much you can expect to earn is key to building a career as a creative professional. It also helps deepen the discussion around the value of design as a critical part of our national economy,” says Adrian Jean CGD, President of Graphic Designers of Canada. “GDC is happy to be working in partnership with RGD to help grow this important resource and in doing so help promote a strong and healthy creative marketplace for designers across Canada.”
Creative Niche is a long-standing Title Sponsor of the initiative. CEO Mandy Gilbert had this to say about the news: “Creative Niche congratulates both RGD and GDC on this major development! We’re excited to be partnering with both organizations on this year’s survey.”
The initiative wouldn’t be possible without the backing of our industry supporters: Applied Arts (Media); Domtar (Paper); Flash Reproductions (Print); Tamm + Kit (Design & Promotion) and The Pixel Shop (Development). Through promotional partnerships with related organizations such as the Société des designers graphiques du Québec (SDGQ) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), we will have a platform to reach wider audiences.
