RGD and the Rotman School of Management invite nominations for the annual DesignThinker of the Year Award, honouring design-driven business in Canada.
"It is not often enough that business leaders are recognized and commended for a commitment to fostering design thinking and innovation," says Wendy Millard RGD, Chair of the Association's PR Committee. "It is important to honour creatively-minded Canadian executives and showcase their success stories in the hopes of encouraging others to adopt similar frameworks. The DesignThinker of the Year Award presents a perfect opportunity to do just that."
Design can contribute to success at every stage of a business or organization’s development and at any size or sector – whether it be for a globally-recognized brand like MEC (whose CEO received the Award in 2013) or for a growing family-owned start-up like Cumbrae’s (whose President & Founder received one of two Awards in 2015).
We invite nominations from across Canada from graphic designers, interior and industrial designers, architects and anyone working with an executive that values design.
If you have worked with, or for, an outstanding business leader who demonstrates a passion for design thinking and innovation, nominate them using our online form. Tell us why you believe this person deserves the award and provide examples showing the organization’s design effectiveness.
The Award-winner (or winners, if we choose to select more than one) will receive their Award on stage at DesignThinkers 2016 (November 3-4 in Toronto) and be featured in a video documenting their thoughts on design (see past examples here and here). The Award-winners’ nominators will receive free tickets to DesignThinkers 2016 and have the opportunity to present the Award onstage at the event.
