RGD attends MP Consultation Meeting

On January 25, RGD attended a consultation meeting hosted by Toronto-area MP Adam Vaughan.

Representatives from many arts and design organizations based in Toronto were present at this event. The meeting consisted of a group discussion on two focus areas: cultural policy and labour issues.

RGD Board Member and Associate Dean at Sheridan College, Donna Braggins RGD, spoke on behalf of the Members and presented the concerns of graphic designers in Canada. RGD pointed out that the previous government had not recognized professional design in the development of the logo and branding for Canada’s 150th anniversary. She also brought attention to the detrimental effects of spec work on designers. MP Adam Vaughan agreed these were concerns and promised to take these thoughts and the others received back to Ottawa for further consideration.
