RGD offers new flexible prep sessions for RGD Certification Process

RGD offers new flexible sessions to help with preparations for the Application, Online Test and Portfolio Presentation phases of RGD’s Certification Process.

 

A new series of Study Sessions have been created to help prepare for RGD Certification, which includes an 80-minute online test and 30-minute virtual portfolio presentation, both required to pass in order to achieve the RGD designation.
 
Sessions will take place weekly but anyone may sign up for any or all sessions that interest them.
 
The password to sign-up for sessions is studyRGD2018.

Tuesday, January 23, sign-up for 30-minute session between 5 and 9 PM
Selecting your Pieces
Discuss 10-20 pieces of work with an RGD Examiner to select your best pieces to submit as part of an RGD Certification Application. Images of pieces can be shown from a website viewed on an RGD device or on a device brought by the participant. Register here with password studyRGD2018.
 
Tuesday, February 6, sign-up for 30-minute session between 5 and 9 PM
Preparing your Rationales
Bring draft rationales for 1-2 of your 6 pieces to be discussed with an RGD Examiner. Participants are asked to sign up for the 1/2 hour time that works best for them. Register here with password studyRGD2018.

Completing your RGD Application

Bring your draft completed RGD Application for review one-on-one with an RGD Examiner. Register here with password studyRGD2018.

Practice Portfolio Review
Practice presenting your portfolio with an RGD Examiner and receive feedback. Register here with password studyRGD2018.

Tuesday, January 30, 6 to 9 PM
6 to 7:30 PM - Accessible Design
Watch (and take notes) a 46-minute recorded presentation on Accessible Design, then discuss with the group. Then participants' notes will be photocopied and shared with all. Register here with password studyRGD2018.
7:30 - 9:00 PM - Ethics
Watch (and take notes) a 45-minute recorded RGD Ethics presentations. This will be followed by discussion. RGD's Executive Director will answer questions. Then participants' notes will be photocopied and shared with all.
 
Tuesday, February 13, 6 to 9 PM
RGD Handbook
Participants will be asked to review 1 Chapter of the RGD Handbook (select during registration) to present to the other participants over 1/2 hour during the evening. Other participants are asked to take notes, which will be shared with all at the end of the evening. 
 
Tuesday, February 27, 6 to 9 PM
Design Principles
6 to 7:30 PM - Participants will watch the 36-minute Graphic Design Basics Skillshare, take notes (which are shared) and discuss.
7:45 to 9:00 PM - Participants will watch recording of Timothy Samara’s webinar, take notes (which are shared) and discuss. 
 
Tuesday, March 13, 6 to 9 PM
Design Research
Participants will be asked to review a section of A Designer’s Research Manual, 2nd edition (select during registration) to present to the other participants over 1/2 hour. Other participants are asked to take notes, which will be shared with all at the end of the evening.
