Q: How long have you been volunteering with RGD, and in what capacity?

A: I have been a volunteer with RGD for about four years, first as a member of the Provisional Committee, later as a co-chair of the Committee and most recently I have passed on the torch of co-chair duties but still remain involved on the Committee as a Member.

Q: What made you want to get involved with RGD?
A: The main reason why I wanted to be involved with RGD was to ingrain myself in the design community to learn, discover and to really help give back to a community that has given so much to me.

Q: Of the RGD initiatives you have contributed to, what are you most proud of?

A: Among the initiatives I have been involved in as a volunteer, I would have to say the Designers+Drinks+Discussion events have been the most memorable and what I am most proud of. The event started out quite small and over the years we worked to make it bigger and better in hopes of giving fellow designers a space to connect, communicate and have fun! Those nights spent with fellow designers, seeing the impact the events had on our community are definitely among my most memorable experiences as a volunteer. The event structure has changed and evolved over the years, but the goal of connecting us together remains the same.

Q: What have you gained from being an RGD volunteer, and why would you recommend it to other members who might be thinking of getting involved?
A: As a volunteer I have gained so much knowledge, many experiences and unforgettable friendships but the most important thing I gained was the opportunity and freedom to create change and to have a voice within the design community and beyond. The staff and the board of directors at RGD are kind and always there to help. They are simply great to work with. If you are thinking of getting involved with RGD, I am positive that you will be able to find something that peaks your interest with the wide variety of opportunities.
