Collective Experience is growing and we’re looking for an Intermediate Designer to grow with us. This position starts as a 3-month contract, with potential to transition to a full-time position. Schedule can be flexible and will be a combination of working onsite and remotely which will be negotiated with the selected candidate. You’ll be working closely with the Creative Director to bring ideas to life. Most of our team works remotely, so you’ll need to be comfortable working independently, as well as contribute to group brainstorming sessions from time to time. We’re a small team, so we’ll need someone who is very versatile and well-rounded, with the ability to juggle various responsibilities and roles. This is a great opportunity to be involved with all aspects of the design process from concept to final production. You’ll also have the chance to learn first-hand about the complete UX design process including best practices, information architecture, UX research, user testing, strategy and much more. Ideally, your skills, roles and responsibilities will evolve as you discover your strengths, likes and passions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability to think conceptually, absorb new ideas, and satisfy project and client requirements
  • Work closely together with creative director to bring ideas to life
  • Create high-quality designs for a variety of mediums including corporate communication pieces, publications, brochures, websites, mobile apps, print materials, branding, digital marketing assets, forms, etc.
  • Manage your projects and your time independently and efficiently
  • Correspond with clients and suppliers directly on certain projects
  • Prepare files for print and/or for web development hand-off
  • Must meet deadlines and other project constraints
  • Contribute ideas to group brainstorming sessions or workshops
  • Occasionally assist with creating mood boards and simple design research
  • Help manage and update studio website
  • Create internal promotional marketing materials
  • Will need own laptop and Adobe Creative Cloud license for 3-month contract period

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-3 years working in the graphic design field designing for both print and digital
  • Formal education in a design program, college or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
  • Basic understanding of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Finely tuned attention to detail, especially for type setting and layouts
  • Organizational and time management skills are essential
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly articulate your design decisions
  • Experience with project management and liaison with clients and suppliers, an asset

Nice to Haves

  • Knowledge of user experience best practices and principles
  • Experience creating wire frames, site maps, user journeys and task flows
  • Experience using Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Experience with creating interactive prototypes in InVision
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and/or PHP
  • Knowledge of Wordpress or similar CMS platform
  • Knowledge of Interaction design, UI animations, After Effects and/or Principle
  • Experience creating fillable and accessible PDFs
  • Familiarity with designing for responsive websites
  • Familiarity with mobile app design
  • Experience working directly with developers, writers or other contractors
  • RGD designation considered an asset
