At ico-D's 2017 Platform Meeting, RGD brings global awareness to the RGD Certification Process.
'Platform Meetings’ (PMs) were created by Icograda as a way to give Members a format through which they could connect with each other and explore common challenges and action for change. The central topics covered in the 2017 PM included Accreditation & Certification, Indigenous Design and National Design Policy.
As part of the discussion on Accreditation & Certification, RGD's Executive Director Hilary Ashworth took the opportunity to provide an overview of RGD's Certification Process and also took part in a panel discussion with Johnathon Strebly (GDC), Joseph McCullagh (Manchester School of Art) and Bradley Schott (Design institute of Australia) to discuss accreditations' place in the design industry today.
RGD's Certification Committee Chair, Randal Boutilier RGD, notes the importance of this global presence for the Association:
"Our members are well-versed in the benefits of membership, and that RGD works hard to give designers a voice in their professional careers. What many don't know is that RGD works on an international scale to share nearly 20 years of knowledge on creating standards in our industry. Having RGD seen on the global stage is important for our membership. Not only does it teach us about our profession on a global scale, it gives us more influence in shaping best practices for designers around the world."
