Jacknife is looking to add another sharp designer to its multifunctional design team.

We are looking for a Junior Designer that is equal part design thinker and design maker. A systems-led designer with a healthy respect for the balance of form & function and an eagle-eye for the detail. You must thrive in a uniquely creative and strategic environment while displaying a passion for design culture and its' ability to make things better(er).

Built by design, Jacknife is a multidisciplinary creative branding and design studio located in the hub of Toronto’s Art & Design district. Skills:
  • 2-3 years of experience working within a corporate design studio.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently speak to your creative concepts & process to internal teams and clients.
  • Proficient with leading design software packages (Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop)
  • Ability to confidently create both print & digital communications.
  • Willingness to listen to feedback and provide thoughtful and measured solutions. 
  • Strong design fundamentals with excellent layout abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail with a critical degree of accuracy.
  • Team player and relationship builder.
  • Self-starter, capable of taking initiative to identify & resolve problems.
  • Interested in design culture and is actively involved in similar activities outside of work.
  • Branded environments, packaging, editorial, and front end online experience is a huge asset.
  • RGD membership considered an asset

Responsibilities:
  • Take a vital role in the studio; embracing the ethos and brand values of Jacknife while working independently on client projects and with active team members while supporting larger studio projects.
  • Produce effective and solution-driven designs for all media (branding and identities, packaging, online content and web design)
  • Execute client revisions requests and prepare production-ready deliverables, for print and digital executions.
  • Collaborate with strategist and other members of the design team to produce presentations for business development and client meetings.
  • Engage with creative projects in a client facing capacity that includes creative presentations, project briefings
  • with key stakeholders, and maintaining exceptional client relationships.
  • Lead and support on project research. May include on-sight and off-site scouting and intel gathering.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional development, staying on top of design culture and industry trends.
