The donations will be used to continue efforts in organizing restoration activities to recover and protect the watershed and provide educational opportunities to share knowledge and promote its ecological, economic, and health benefits.

The Junction Creek waterway is a valuable resource, providing numerous ecosystem services to the city and acts as a sanctuary to wildlife and plants. It also works as a filtration system for the water flowing through to Sudbury. Through dedicated research and restoration, the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee can directly have a positive impact on the citizens of Sudbury. Miranda Virtanen, Executive Director of the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee adds, “It requires a lot of time and effort to apply for grants and to organize fundraisers, with the uncertainty of what funding will be received. The generous support of a donation is truly outstanding and goes a long way — it lifts up our spirits and allows us to accomplish much more.”
