The 2021 Certification Sticker is designed by Mel Sutjiadi RGD, Creative Director at Artovermatter with offices in Vancouver and Calgary. We asked Mel about their experience developing the 2021 Stickers.

"I started sketching ideas for the sticker in the summer of last year. Our world was still reverberating from the #BlackLivesMatter protests while dealing with a global pandemic. It was disorientating and ridden with anxiety and uncertainty; with racism in the spotlight, it placed heavy mental weights on the communities of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. This was reflected by the early sketches and concepts that I worked on. As time goes by and with new leadership in the horizon for our neighbouring country, it was clear to me that the design for the 2021’s sticker should instead reflect a message of unity and hope.

Let this be the year we stand together–shoulder to shoulder–and support each other as designers. From behind our tools and devices, we can fight for diverse representation and a more inclusive and accessible design for all."

Certified RGDs will start receiving the Certifications Stickers in a couple of weeks. For more information or questions, please contact .
