Amanda DeVries RGD appointed to the RGD Board for 2020/2021
04/08/20

At its July meeting, the RGD Board of Directors voted to appoint Amanda DeVries RGD her, replacing Norm Lourenco RGD who stepped down last month after contributing three years to the Board.

We thank Norm for all his contributions to our community.

Amanda is an active Member of the RGD, serving on the Events Committee since January.  Most recently, she hosted our first-ever BIPOC Design Social steering the conversation and connecting directly with Members.

We asked Amanda what interested her about joining the Board. "I was a fan of the RGD for several years before I even joined. I was always impressed how the organization strived to stay relevant, by bringing contemporary topics early into discussions and finding charismatic and engaging people to speak at DesignThinkers. For any organization, there is always room to grow and new ways of looking at things and so I hope to bring my perspective to the table and contribute in a way that allows the RGD to maintain its excellence."

RGD Members are invited to apply to serve on RGD Committees and get involved other ways as a way to understand more about the organization and the role of the Board.

The RGD has a full-time staff but is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Every year, at RGD’s Annual Meeting, Certified RGDs have the opportunity to vote for up to 7 Certified RGD Board Members who serve alternating 2-year terms. Student and Provisional RGD Board Members are appointed to one-year terms based on their Committee participation.
