Committee Initiatives include updates to the RGD Directory, Speaker Guidelines, the Trailblazer Awards and Open Dialogue Campaign on Social Media.
Collect Member Demographics & Provide Opportunities for Self-Identification
RGD's Directory offers a comprehensive list of contacts in the Canadian graphic design industry for those seeking to hire designers (or creative agencies) for full-time employment, freelance or projects ranging from logos to websites to promotion. The Committee advised updates to the RGD Directory to allow RGD Members to self-identify as 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Disabled and/or Living with a Mental Illness on their profiles. Members can also add their pronouns to their Directory profiles, if they wish to do so.
Open Dialogue Campaign on Social Media
#OpenDialogue aims to start conversations about important issues that matter to design professionals and the design industry. The campaign is composed of Instagram posts that highlight and discuss a topic, statement or issue explored by an RGD Member. Each post shares a reflection and explanation on why the issue matters, and it also features a project that shows the importance of the topic in action. Interested in starting a conversation on a topic that matters to you as a design professional? The #OpenDialogue campaign would like to feature it! Interested RGD Members can submit their information here.
