Senior Graphic Designer - Ottawa
OneFish Creative is seeking a new Senior level Graphic Designer – Corporate Events Creative Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing detailed creative concepts for corporate events, while maintaining existing corporate brands. You will be responsible for designing a wide variety of print, digital and web materials and managing multiple deadlines and deliverable lists for a number of different events at a time ranging from small business to high tech brands.

To be successful in this position, you’ll be an organized self-starter, capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas and amazing attention to detail while still being able to work within the tightly defined timelines and budgets. You will be expected to manage projects and timelines directly with the client. Expert knowledge of InDesign is critical, as you will be required to execute multi-page layouts using master pages and styles sheets effectively, build final files using data merges and create bullet-proof print ready files for print.

This position will require you to work from home, so it is essential that you can manage your time effectively and consistently, with careful attention to deadlines and project workflow.

Full-time position (40 hours a week)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to self-manage a project list with multiple deadlines and scopes in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts
  • Meet with art director and client to determine the scope of a project and take the design “brief” to record requirements and client’s needs
  • Able to follow provided standards guides to execute top-notch creative solutions with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Review final layouts for errors and suggesting improvements, when necessary, before printing or publishing them
  • Incorporate changes recommended by the clients into the final design
  • Work as part of a team with copywriters, designers, developers, etc.
  • Very responsive and attentive throughout the entire timeline of client projects, ranging from 1 to 25 different creative pieces.
  • Produce final artwork in the format that it is required (print ready, web resolutions, layered files for web developers)
  • Effectively communicate with clients and team members through email and online meetings to gather and implement revisions.
  • Ability to work independently, following the specific needs of client directive via email communication, Slack and Teamwork.

Graphic Designer Requirements:

  • Degree in graphic design and 5-8 years of experience. Previous corporate events experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills and experience with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Experience in After Effects or other motion software is a bonus.
  • Experience in WordPress or HTML is a bonus.
  • A strong eye for visual composition.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines within provided budgets.
  • Solid understanding of print production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design.
