Communications Specialist / Graphic Designer - Guelph
Jersey Canada is seeking a permanent, full-time Communications Specialist / Graphic Designer with experience in graphic design, communications, print and digital marketing, and social media, to support the strategic objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has superior time management skills, is detail-oriented, creative, able to meet tight deadlines and has excellent communications skills.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Some evenings and weekends may be required, with occasional travel for special events, This role is performed from the Guelph, Ontario office. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and layout of a quarterly print magazine, with tasks including creating and overseeing the editorial calendar, article writing, and graphic design
  • Creating content for and managing all social media channels
  • Front-end website (Wordpress) editing and content creation
  • Creating print and digital promotional & marketing materials
  • Soliciting digital and print advertising
  • Working with the Board of Directors and General Manager to execute strategic directives
  • Working with committees to plan and execute long-term projects
  • Working with staff and committees to plan and execute events including AGMs and livestock shows
  • Media and member communications, including digital newsletters and press releases

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Applicants MUST provide a link to a portfolio of design work
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related education and / or experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with great attention to detail in proofreading and copyediting
  • High-quality and creative graphic design skills
  • Skilled with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Able to manage and execute multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines
  • Experience administering campaigns across social media channels
  • Ability to work in a Mac environment using Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating and editing video for web
  • Professional certification such as RGD, CPRS or other relevant organizations
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Bilingual French/English (verbal and written) is considered a definite asset
  • Experience in the dairy industry is considered a definite asset
