Bow Valley College is looking for a Creative Service Specialist.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Creative Services, the Creative Services Specialist is responsible for guiding the entire creative process from ideation and concept development through to implementation strategies that meet the brand and organizational goals of Bow Valley College. This role will inspire an internal team of graphic designers, photographers, video producers and writers to ensure creative advertising and marketing creative is delivered on-time and on budget. As a passionate industry leader, they will maintain and inform the College's brand identity on all visual elements while working collaboratively with College stakeholders.

The Creative Services Specialist is a specialist in creative communications such as graphic design, copywriting, advertising and emerging technologies that have the potential to reach more of the College's various target markets creatively and cost effectively. This person will have the ability to step in and work as a designer, photographer, videographer or copywriter as workloads dictate. This position must have knowledge on the use of a variety of communication channels that are used to deliver innovative Marketing and Communication plans.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Vision and Project Management

  • Performs as a visual creative leader and expert for Bow Valley College.
  • Provides creative advice to project team members throughout all stages of the creative process.
  • Creates project budget recommendations.
  • Develops strategic visual initiatives in consultation with many cross-functional groups in Bow Valley College including Marketing and Communications team, Faculty, and other departments and service areas.
  • Monitors and evaluates visual initiatives to ensure desired and sustainable outcomes are being achieved.
  • Recommends future development opportunities to maintain and improve process systems.
  • Isolates, resolves and documents all problems and performance bottlenecks.
  • Maximizes graphic and video performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, scheduling and collaborating with the Digital and Communications teams.
  • Develops presentations, proposals, and comprehensive recommendations on major creative initiatives to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Provides innovative and agile recommendations that meet creative requirements
  • Completes location evaluations for on-site and off-site photography and video shoots.
  • Responsible for executing approved concepts, and design/art direction for Marketing and Communications materials, campaigns and multiple projects focused on building brand awareness for Bow Valley College.
  • Supports the creative services team in assigning projects, creating timelines, overseeing design direction, ensuring all deadlines are met, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise throughout the duration of a project.
  • Act as quality control for projects, reviewing and editing the team’s final products before internal approvals and final distribution of any marketing materials.
  • Creates and pitches layouts, concept mockups and prototypes for input and approval on creative direction.
  • Assesses training and development needs related to creative services for Bow Valley College.
  • Identifies development opportunities to ensure employees receive the training and tools required to maintain Bow Valley College brand standards.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Creative Services, develops the overall change management strategy for the launch and maintenance of the new Bow Valley College brand.


Relationship Development and Management

  • Works collaboratively with leaders and departments at Bow Valley College as well as external community partners to implement strategic creative initiatives.
  • Establishes positive working relationships with senior leadership, faculty and staff across the College.
  • Establishes trust and invokes a participatory approach to gaining buy-in on brand and recruitment marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to take over duties in Manager’s absence.


JOB REQUIREMENTS


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-7 years’ Marketing & Communications experience at a senior level ad agency or in-house creative services department
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
  • Keen understanding of workflow processes and ability to develop, monitor, and deliver on project scope, budget, and deadlines.
  • Excellent story writing skills (especially in the area of copywriting) along with strong visual design skills, and the ability to provide effective and constructive feedback to other designers
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years Senior Creative experience within an ad agency or inhouse team (post-secondary and/or not-for-profit considered and asset).
  • Proven experience in inspiring creative teams without authority
  • Solid creative portfolio and keen ability to problem solve within a creative context
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with multiple clients/partners within one global brand environment
  • Successful track record of excellent customer service, highest level of professionalism, and personal integrity
  • Ability to supervise - working collaboratively and successfully with Marketing teams, graphic designers (within a variety of platforms and media) writers, project coordinators, internal and external partners)
  • Demonstrated ability to connect the brand with stakeholder audiences
  • Portfolio evidence of successful budget development, monitoring, and reporting
  • Experience working within a creative, budget, and deadline driven environment
  • Proven ability to project manage, bringing together various partner demands under a unified College directive
  • Record of commitment to research and desire to stay current in field
