Why am I an RGD?I’m currently the Creative Director for Thermor Ltd, the parent company of the BIOS Medical brand. We produce and distribute medical monitoring and assistive devices. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, the need for graphic design standards and regulatory guidance were truly brought back home to me. There was a new and huge demand for no-contact digital thermometers and many of the products brought to market had not been approved by Health Canada. That means those products did not feature the correct labeling and packaging requirements for medical goods. I re-committed myself to using design practices and standards to support consumer safety, clear communication and the creation of accessible, usable product information, marketing materials and packaging. I know that RGD is there to help me achieve those goals, to assist with my professional development and to facilitate networking opportunities so we can continue to evolve our profession together.
Why should you hire me?Creativity and compliance are not mutually exclusive concepts. Bringing all the elements of design together to create packaging that tempts the eye, informs the end user and serves regulations that support safety, accessibility and clarity is my forte. I trace this elemental understanding back to my education. As a graduate of Seneca College’s Graphic Media Arts program, I was exposed to design problems and solutions for and of all forms of media and communications. It gave me the flexibility to take on design challenges, no matter how complex, using a variety of tools, techniques and perspectives.
