Objective: Legacy Life Project is a video production studio in Orlando, Florida, owned by Macbeth Studio. They are all about celebrating the life story of loved ones through video. We did their: - Brand Strategy - Brand Identity Design - Website Design & Development - Social Media Content Design The Challenge: Their brand identity, design, and offering was not resonating with their target clients. They produce quality work, but was not able to communicate why they would charge thousands of dollars for a "home video". Our Solution: Out solution was to position them as a premium "mini-documentary" production studio. To produce a documentary, means you have to be of a certain importance - and therefore, people were willing to pay a premium for the work. We re-designed their logo (which was previously that of a tree) .. into that of a gold foil finger-print resembling a tree. The fingerprint signifies that every persons story is unique. The roots of the tree extends down showing that one's story is deep, and has a significant impact for future generations who would be affected by it. In the case of Legacy Life Project (their brand archetype was that of "The Caregiver / The Nurturer") They are all about service, support, recognition and gratitude. They do quality work, and they put a lot of care into the product they produce - no small detail is overlooked. And so we created a vintage but polished brand to appeal to their clientele.

Why am I an RGD?Truth be told, I like having the 3 letter initials after my name :) On my business cards, and my e-mail signature, I have “Denny Kurien, MFA, RGD”. The question I get asked the most is, “what is RGD?”. It’s a great conversation starter. But the real reason why I’m part of the RGD community, is because of the young & upcoming designers. When I graduated from design school, it was 1999. Fast forward 23 years, and the design landscape has changed so much. And I love being inspired by young designers who push the boundaries of design, more than I could ever imagine. It’s probably why I enjoyed teaching design at Humber College. It’s a symbiotic relationship where I learn from them as much as they learn from me.
What is my most memorable RGD moment?Being able to mentor new design students just entering the design industry. One thing that teaching Design at Humber college has taught me, is that it's all about those light-bulb moments. When you teach a student (or a client) something that they didn't know previously, you add more value in what you do than just the services and deliverables you provide. There's an old saying, “If you give a person a fish, you feed them for a day. If you teach a person to fish, you feed them for a lifetime." And those are the kind of clients I want to work with. Clients who have an insatiable appetite to better themselves, and create a business that will be personally & financially rewarding for years to come.
Why am I a designer?I am a Branding & Design Consultant for Experts & Professional Service firms that get paid for their thinking.
