Company description
Lecturer, Toronto Metropolitan University

The School of Graphic Communications Management in the modern high-tech Heidelberg Centre is Canada’s only degree-granting program for the printing industries. Our 4-year degree offers incredible opportunities in creative, technical and business careers.

The Master of Digital Media (MDM) program is for disruptors: people who want to shape the future of digital media. Whether students plan to launch their startup, work in the corporate world, or go on to further studies, the MDM program provides the framework and foundation for success. MDM students often describe themselves as “slash people.” They have a wide range of skills, come from diverse academic backgrounds, and they’re well-versed in the art of the side hustle. They always carry more than one title: content creator/tech guru/entrepreneur, and more.
Why am I an RGD?
I am an RGD because this certification connects me to a wealth of knowledge and knowledgeable people who make up the design community in Canada. Learning is never complete. I am always improving my craft, as both a designer and as an educator. I know that each next great idea is just around the corner and the thrill of learning new theories, skills and techniques to tap into these ideas pushes me forward. This organization and this professional certification helps me accomplish that.
What is my most memorable RGD moment?
Attending my first-ever DesignThinkers Vancouver in 2023! Incredible people, incredible energy, incredible takeaways.
Why am I a designer?
I am a design educator because I believe in using the power of visual communications to shape the world for the better. In my role as lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University I help students connect their technical left brains, creative right brains, and entrepreneurial hearts for fulfilling careers in creative industries. Specifically, I teach in the areas of design, typography, print management, book publishing and interdisciplinary innovation. I have experience designing curriculum and teaching in both in-person and online learning environments, as well as at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Where do I see myself in 5 years?
Professionally, I hope to be continuing to do what I love - teaching!

Personally, I hope to be exploring the world both near and far with my husband and 2 little girls!
