RGD Webinar: Design as a System

Presented by Timothy Samara

Most designed works are systematic: they often consist of several parts, sometimes each with different content and functions that must recognizably interrelate. Whether serial or sequential; pages in a website or book, exhibit spaces or public signage systems; or full-on branding programs—designers often struggle to devise a comprehensive set of visual rules that can still flex to integrate such required differences and still unify the whole. In this webinar, designer and educator Timothy Samara will unpack the challenges unique to the design of visual systems and outline practical methods for meeting them—demonstrating theory in action through a variety of real-world projects.
