RGD's newest Awards Program celebrates emerging designers who are making an impact on the design community and beyond! (Information en francais.)


The 2020 Deadline for submissions has now passed and judging is underway!


Our Five Finalists will be announced in September and the Winner will be announced as part of DesignThinkers 2020 Virtual.


The 2021 Awards will open for submissions in February 2021! 


Entrants are asked to submit 3 examples of their work and a designer statement in video (maximum 4 minutes) or written format (maximum 500 words). Judges will evaluate for Design Excellence
, Community Impact and Design Effectiveness to select 5 Finalists and 1 Winner.

One Winner will receive:

- RGD Membership (RGD or Provisional RGD) for 5 years

- Free attendance to DesignThinkers for 5 years

- Opportunity to do a presentation at DesignThinkers


- Must be 35 years of age or under at the time of the deadline (July 27, 2020) OR a Provisional RGD Member in Good Standing (who may be over 35)
- Must be a citizen or resident of Canada

Submission Requirements
- Designer Statement: Submit a personal statement on how you and your work are impacting Canadian (or international) design and your community. Can be submitted in written or video format.
- Case studies for 3 design projects that back up your statement. For each piece, talk about the goals of the project and how it achieved its purpose.
 Work that may be submitted includes freelance project
s / projects for clients (as many as all 3 projects); projects done as part of a team (maximum 2 projects)
; personal project (maximum 1 project)
; pro bono projects (as many as all 3 projects)
; and projects for employers (as many as all 3 projects).
