RGD So(cial) Good Design Awards Call for Entries Deadline

RGD invites submissions of graphic design projects from around the world done under the theme of communication design for social good; work with the power to incite action and make meaningful change in the way we live our lives.

 

Final Deadline February 14, 2020!

 

Today’s designers have an ever greater responsibility to visualize the significant issues facing our society and find new ways to incite change in the way we behave. When we approach these issues creatively, we can make a real difference in the world.

So(Good) Design Award-winners receive:

  • Recognition in a printed Awards Annual distributed to 3,000
  • Recognition on the RGD website and across RGD's other communication channels, reaching over 30,000
  • Recognition at DesignThinkers 2020 VAN taking place at the Vancouver Playhouse on May 26-27
  • A physical Award with the opportunity to receive it at an Awards Ceremony taking place during DesignThinkers 2020 VAN
  • Recognition in a public exhibit appearing at the Vancouver Public Library from May 24 to June 5 
  • 20% discount to attend DesignThinkers 2020 VAN

 

Categories

  • Not-For-Profit: Any communications-based project where a not-for-profit and/or charity is the client
  • For-Profit: Any communications-based project where a for-profit company is the client, either where the client has a social mission built into their business model or where a business-driven client develops or funds an initiative for social good
  • Government: Any communications-based project where a government department, governmental agency or crown corporation is the client and the project is an initiative for social good
  • Education: Any communications-based project where an educational institution is the client and where the messages being communicated promote the spread of knowledge OR the project addresses a societal challenge within the educational environment
  • Designer-Driven: Any communications-based project initiated by a professional or student designer to raise awareness of a cause or issue that they feel strongly about or where they have developed a possible solution or remedy to a societal challenge
* The design team/designer may work internally to the client, whether it be not-for-profit, for-profit or governmental, or externally as a consultant.


Judging - Selection Criteria:

  • The project effectively promotes action in support of societal change
  • The project demonstrates originality and creativity through advanced, unusual or clever solutions, uniqueness of materials, originality of components and/or creative use of resources
  • The project demonstrates good design, through the elegance and sophistication of core design concepts, the layout and use of space, typography, clever synergies of visual elements, artistic integration, etc

 

Fees

Early-bird (Until January 31,2020)

Student RGDs: $25 per entry

Professional Members of RGD*: 1-3 entries: $60 per entry; 4 or more entries: $45 per entry

Members of Partner organizations**: 1-3 entries: $75 per entry; 4 or more entries: $60 per entry

Non-members: 1-3 entries: $95 per entry; 4 or more entries: $75 per entry

 

Regular (February 1-14, 2020)

Student RGDs: $45 per entry

Professional Members of RGD*: 1-3 entries: $75 per entry; 4 or more entries: $60 per entry 

Members of Partner Organizations**: 1-3 entries: $95 per entry; 4 or more entries: $75 per entry 

Non-members: 1-3 entries: $125 per entry; 4 or more entries: $95 per entry
