Company description
Kathy is the Brand and Graphic Design Specialist at the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC, the provincial occupational health & safety association for manufacturers and food processors in British Columbia.
Why am I an RGD?
Whether you are a sole proprietor or a solo in-house designer, it’s important to have a community of like-minded peers who speak the same “language” you. With a hectic schedule, professional development is often left on the back burner. With RGD I felt like I could connect with my professional community and have opportunities for professional development.

What is my most memorable RGD moment?
The 2019 Design Thinker's Conference in Vancouver was definitely my most memorable moment so far. So many designers under one roof - from a myriad of disciplines and roles, but sharing common experiences, challenges and goals.
Why am I a designer?
I like solving puzzles, and communication design often is a puzzle. How to use research, design principles, images and words, medium and method, distribution and feedback channels to simplify a complex concept and tell a compelling story.
Why should you hire me?
My focus is strategic planning, project management and execution of multi-phased, cross-channel communication design projects. As a senior designer I have the experience to see big picture. This long view helps clients avoid common pitfalls and make long-term fiscal, environmental and socially responsible choices.
Where do I see myself in 5 years?
In five years, I would like to see myself continuing to learn and evolve and facilitating collaborative learning projects and mentoring student designers.
Contributions to RGD in 2018
Since becoming RGD certified in 2019, I attended the Design Thinker's Conference in Vancouver, participated in the judging of the RGD Student Design Awards and most recently, joined the RGD Certification Committee.
