I have spent the last twenty years studying and practicing design. Design(ing) is not only a part of my identity but forms a foundation to how I see and move through the world. If I have one religion, it would be Herbert Simon’s “to design is to devise courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones.” I joined the GDC and, now, the RGD because of its work to increase the profile of design and of Canadian design and designers; to help develop and maintain professional and ethical design standards; and to correct the inaccuracy of colonial design history and practice.  

When I was honoured by the RGD community with the Design Educator of the Year Award in 2019.
