Meet our Committee Members

Chair: Elyse Maxwell RGD, St. Catharines, ON

Elyse is a Senior Graphic Designer and Project Manager at Patch Design. From developing comprehensive branding systems to designing web and print materials, she uses her passion and curiosity to identify optimal solutions for her clients. Elyse is a life-long student with over 15 years experience. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design and earned a diploma in Marketing from McMaster University.

 

Vice Chair: Kyle Schruder RGD, Toronto, ON

Kyle is Director of Design at Coactuate, a Toronto-based strategic design consultancy. There he helps coach the design team, as well as leading execution on client deliverables. Kyle is passionate about helping emerging designers build their skills and their careers, volunteering in RGD portfolio reviews, awards judging and more.
 
Esther Sunghee Byun RGD, Toronto, ON
Esther Sunghee Byun is the Founder and Senior Designer of a purpose-driven creative design studio ESTHER SUNGHEE specializing in art direction, editorial design, and visual identity design. With a multi-disciplinary and modern approach to design, Esther brings work to life by incorporating thought and charm through smart and refined visual solutions for a wide range of clients. Currently, Esther is a Senior Designer at Pentagram for Team Luke Hayman in the NY office.
 
Olivia Baker-Sullivan Provisional RGD, Toronto, ON
Olivia graduated with a MDes in Interdisciplinary Design at NSCAD University in April 2020. She joined the RGD as a Provisional member in October 2020, and has since been working on designs for the Extended Studies department at NSCAD University. Olivia is most interested in design thinking as a facilitator for tackling wicked problems related to design, such as sustainability work. Recently, that has involved developing designs for a food bank charity that is tackling food waste in downtown Toronto. Olivia's work mainly involves branding, graphic and product design, as well as design thinking practices.
 

Ian Chalmers RGD, Toronto, ON
Ian brings a creative curiosity and influence to the design research work he does across a spectrum of corporate, healthcare and academic pursuits. As Founder of Pivot Design Group, his professional focus is in the healthcare vertical, bringing an inclusive design focus to the work Pivot creates for researchers, scientists and institutions. He is also the founder of DesignMeets, a 10-year in the making event forum to bring the design conversation to the community.


Evelyn Csiszar RGD, Squamish, BC

Evelyn is the founder of Collective Experience, a design collective that specializes in providing UX/UI design and strategy services to tech companies and start-ups in the health, education, science and financial sectors. She works one-on-one with growing tech companies as a collaborative partner, helping their web, mobile and software products deliver on its promises by advocating for their users in every aspect of the design.

 

Ruth Farrugia RGD, Montreal, QC

Ruth is an in-house designer for the City of Côte Saint-Luc with over 20 years of professional experience. She is also the owner of Fishtank Communications. Her varied client list has allowed her to work on many different types of visual communications and she brings her expertise and a passion for design to all her projects.

 

Marc Lauriault RGD, Toronto, ON

As lead designer of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), Marc designs and directs the design output of Team Canada and the COC. Previously, Marc has held roles at Sportsnet and Bruce Mau Design.

 

Peter Licandro Provisional RGD, New Westminster, BC

Peter comes from a background of creative advertising, serving multiple roles as Graphic Designer, Advertising Assistant, Marketing Specialist, and Art Director. After 4 years building The Marketing Company, he has rebranded the business and is the founder of BRKTHRU CREATIVE. Peter brings his knowledge, passion, eye for design, and creative skills to any project. He has worked mainly in the industrial, fitness, sports, apparel, real estate and restaurant scene but never backs down from a challenge. Versatile, his focus is branding, web design, print design but is no stranger to photo and video. Peter ensures all projects are crafted creatively, while on an emotional level pulling on the heartstrings of his clients.

 

Brent Long RGD, Markham, ON

Brent Long RGD is co-founder and Director, Client Happiness at Fusion Design Group in Markham, ON. He has been in the industry for 30 years (yes, he's old), is an accredited Registered Graphic Designer (RGD), served a six year tenure on the RGD board as Chair of Membership, and continues to serve on the Membership Committee to this day. Brent also sits on the advisory committee for the Georgian College Graphic Design program. Brent has spoken and been a panelist at many RGD events, and frequently volunteers for RGD student portfolio reviews.

 

Sissa Morgado Provisional RGD, Toronto, ON

 

Rod Nash RGD Emeritus, Vineland, ON

Rod started his career in Australia in the early 1960s. He came to North America in 1966 and worked in the US and Canada before forming  Nash & Nash with his wife in 1972. As one of RGD's founders Rod's communications and promotions helped with the founders' efforts to move The RGD Act through the Ontario Legislature. Though retired, Rod enjoys staying involved with RGD on the Membership Committee and producing pro bono communications for the 420 people in the Vineland retirement community where he lives.

 

Megan Rousseau RGD, Toronto, ON

Megan has 20 years of experience in design and web, as well as 10 years of experience in marketing-communications. She has worked mainly in an in-house capacity, leading teams and developing brand and communications strategies for non-governmental organizations. Her design experience ranges from complex book design to video production and editing and everything in between. Megan’s ability to visually communicate complex, technical topics is what makes her highly valued at her organization.
