The Detox Market is looking for an Art Director who has a passion for green beauty, creative marketing and is an inspiring and motivating creative leader who upholds brand guidelines.

 

The Art Director will need to be an effective hands-on leader who will be able to help define the creative strategy and implement it across all channels. The Art Director will manage a team of designers (and liase with external design partners) in order to execute all marketing initiatives and collateral that delivers on the brand positioning, drive sales and buzz for the organization and ultimately create the most elevated customer experience.

 

You will be working directly for the CBO and alongside members of the Marketing, Product Development and Brand Partnerships Teams.

Position Title: ART DIRECTOR
Department: CREATIVE / MARKETING
Location: Toronto
Reports to: Chief Brand Officer

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

 

  • Lead and develop the end-to-end creative and production process – from conceptualization, art direction and design, production and execution – of all omni-channel print and digital creative marketing initiatives, including ecommerce, newsletters, videos, blogs, collateral materials, direct mail pieces, advertising and signage, website, videos and social channels, as well as internal business initiatives as requested that are on strategy and brand consistent
    • Demonstrating thought-leadership
    • Ensuring solutions are based on strong analytics and insights
    • Ensuring the path to move from strategy to execution is clearly laid out
    • Presenting findings and recommendations in a compelling way at an executive level
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions that build brand voice and elevate customer experience through all collateral
  • Communicate creative expectations, art direction and standards to designers, copywriters, illustrators, photographers, stylists and other external partners
  • Collaborate with Chief Brand Officer, as well as the client’s business teams: senior management, marketing, merchants and retail stores, etc.
  • Adhere to schedules and/or work-back summaries with milestones identified
  • Keep up-to-date on trends in branding, marketing, advertising, and related communications industries
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and support to Designers and Copywriters within the group

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Educational background: Graphic Arts & Design
  • Proficient in Adobe CS including Premier Pro and After Affects
  • Has strong UX and UI experience
  • Has excellent design and conceptual sensibility as demonstrated in a comprehensive portfolio/website
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Creative Management role
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Familiarity with traditional, online and digital media and can adapt campaign ideas to various media and thinks holistically across channels
  • Expertise in creative and photography direction, web and advertising design, as well as how creative campaigns and concepts translate visually into stores
  • Can give clear direction to the team on execution options, but can also execute design/concept themselves
  • Develops creative that aligns with company strategies and objectives
  • Keep abreast of design, cultural and fashion trends
  • A positive, high energy team player that can embrace the brand and bring it forward

  • Clear brand positioning, executed through exciting and innovative campaigns that drive sales
  • Assist in budget and expense management 

  • Mentors, grows & monitors staff, empowering team to create innovative concepts and design 

  • External recognition of the creative work being done in support of the brand 

  • Positive working relationships built throughout the organization – particularly with the Merchant, Marketing and Ecomm teams 

  • All projects are produced on time and within budget
