Community engagement, saving money, raising awareness.
These are just a few of the reasons organizations and companies give for organizing design competitions. However, design competitions are not the best way to go about achieving meaningful and sustainable design solutions.
To aid in the advocacy against design competitions, RGD's Ethics Committee created a document called Ethical Best Practices for Design Competitions/Contests. The printable, approachable document can be shared with organizations and companies who are hosting design competitions to encourage them to explore more ethical alternatives.
