Why am I an RGD?I am an RGD member because as a professional designer it is essential to be part of a community of designers that can share ideas and learn from each other. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that advocates for quality and ethical practices and that sets and follows professional standards for the design profession Canada wide.
What is my most memorable RGD moment?I have been a member of the GDC since 2004 starting out as a student representative and volunteering in many roles but I am new to the RGD family. My most memorable RGD moment to date is linked to my first DesignThinkers Conference in 2018. From the moment I registered I was blown away by how great I was treated. Heidi Veri was so kind and welcoming to me and patient with all of my questions and when Hilary Ashworth invited me to the VIP dinner I was over the moon. I am sure I will many more great memories and I am looking forward to being a part of the judging panel for this years student awards as well as other opportunities to volunteer.
Why am I a designer?I am a designer because simply put, I love it! It is not a profession to me, it is a part of who I am. I am grateful that I get the opportunity to research and learn more about my clients unique needs and challenges and offer creative solutions. Being curious to the core, I love asking questions, and digging deeper to problem solve. As a designer, I never stop evolving and learning, it is literally an ongoing whirlwind of discovery and creation. I also love it because I have the opportunity to align myself with like minded people and do my best to help them and build relationships with people that inspire me.
Why should you hire me?With over 20 years of national and international design experience, having won multiple awards for my work and with seven years of post-secondary design education under my belt, you will be in good hands. I have worked on million-dollar projects as well as well as within smaller budgets, finding creative solutions within the set parameters. Focused on listening to your needs and helping you to identify your goals I would love to share my design expertise and collaborate with you.
